Well don't you just love hearing about those shark attacks? Makes you really want to get in the ocean and get the full effect. Ok, well just because there was a reported fatality at Troncones beach doesn't mean this is very common. I know this has been big news in some places, but here is the truth about shark attacks. First of all attacks in Mexico are extremely rare.Since 2006 only about 1 attack has been reported. The fact is most people feel as if sharks are really there to hunt people down and devour them as in the movies. In this case where this surfer died, it was most likely a taste test on the part of the shark. The man died because of a loss of blood to his leg. If the shark really wanted to have lunch this man would have been eaten right away.
So just because you hear of an instance of someone getting bit by a shark, that shouldn't stop you from getting into the ocean and enjoying the water. Just be careful where you do it. You may be surprised to know that your odds of dying in a car crash are significantly higher than a shark attack.
